Suzy Lee participated in the "Tea With Alice - a world of wonderland Illustration" at Story Museum, Oxford, U.K..
28 June - 16 September 2012
"We believe that this is the most significant exhibition of Alice illustrations that we have seen." Mark Richards, Chair, Lewis Carroll Society
The Alice books have been translated into more than 100 languages and interpreted by many illustrators, artists and designers. This exhibition revealed the new golden age of Alice illustration – with original illustrations from contemporary editions, as well as some unpublished versions. Illustrators include the former Children¡¯s Laureate, Anthony Browne, as well as Dusan Kallay from Slovakia and Chiara Carrer from Italy. Alice's adventures are marked by a chain of characters and episodes: down the rabbit hole, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts and the Mad Tea-Party. This exhibition captured these moments and was a unique opportunity to compare styles, schools and techniques. Specially curated for The Story Museum by Ju Godinho and Eduardo Filipe and supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Also supported by The National Lottery through Arts Council England.
